Ghana

In November 2022, TD Orchestra began its music schools throughout Ghana, in collaboration with the artist and drummer Kwame and his friends, who are based in Mankessim. The music schools are free of charge to the local community and currently focus on instrumental, vocal and dancing lessons, as well as reading sheet music and basic music theory.

 

Almost all of the current students are schoolchildren from the communities in the vicinity of Mankessim. In-person instruction is given by Kwame and his friends.

 

In April 2023, TD Orchestra established a Ghana-based satellite nonprofit organization, called the Tatsuya Daniel Orchestra Educational Complex. The Ghana-based nonprofit will partner with other Ghana-based organizations to establish permanent primary and secondary TD Orchestra schools nationwide. For example, the TD Orchestra Educational Complex will be partnering with a Ghana-based organization called H.O.M.E. (Home, Opportunity, Meaning, Equality) to purchase a plot of land in Kokrobite. A portion of the land will be used for a TD Orchestra school.
